What is Digital capture and Processing?

What do we mean by digital capture and processing?

Digital capture and processing is two different aspects of photography combined together. Digital capture is the process of simply taking the photos on the digital camera of which is digital photography however the processing part is all about what comes after. Processing is when the photographer can change or manipulate a photograph. Most photographers don’t like this process as they think it ruins the picture however i enjoy looking at a photo that i have taken and then looking at how i can alter and change the picture even the slightest of changes can make a photograph look even better than the original.

Why isn't the title just digital photography? Surely we just use the camera and that is it?

The reason why the title also involves processing is because taking the picture is only the first step you can capture the image with the camera but then the fun part comes next when you upload the picture you can see things in the picture which you could wish to change and instead of having to go take the picture again you can do the changes on programs such as Photoshop and light room, for example if the picture is dark you could alter with the light in the picture. Now digital photography is so much more than simply taking the picture with the camera it has now become a process a workflow from taking the picture to editing the picture.

There are different areas in which digital capture can be used as part of the workflow after reading through example the one that i picked which i has not considered how it works or is done is Stereo photography and 3D films, i find this really interesting and therefore chose to look further into this area which uses digital capture within the process.

stereo photography creates a three dimensional image using two 2D images, most requiring 3D glasses for example what you would use when going to the cinema to see a 3D film .However a simpler way to achieve this on a smaller scale can be achieved with a digital camera and editing e.g. Photoshop.

Overview- our eyes see objects from different perspectives through either eye. The background images change position a lot less than foreground images.

3D wobble images - this is 2 images combined with the foreground and background images moving substantially while the middle of the image remains still , this creating the movement in the image creating the 3D aspect.

To create a wobble image is very simple once you know how

Instructions to create wobble image - once selected 2 images paste one image as second layer on top of the other image

- change top layer opticy to 50% then adjust slightly so the images are slightly un even then back to 100% opticy

- Windows -animation - then add a second frame then have only bottom layer visible and then vise versa on top layer.

- then adjust time between frames to o.1 seconds

end photograph
